Grace + Eve

A mama-run shop, featuring these awesome paint-your-own animal kits.

Shop owner Elisa is the sweetest and I'm so honored to get to work with her and share her shop. She is a mother of two girls, which is where she got her shop name.

Elisa sent us this adorable paint your own, wooden unicorn kit and Rowan loved it! Before she painted the unicorn and peg doll, she used them as they were in her play. I wanted to save it for her to paint during a day that was too cold to go outside (which is like all the time lately here in Minnesota). Last Friday made for the perfect day. The sun was shining in the living room windows, despite the temperature being -7 (without windchill, brrr) and it was the perfect time to paint a unicorn to help the day pass a bit faster.

Goodness did I love seeing her paint this. She was so giddy when I pulled it out, but as soon as she sat down to work, she was so focused! Halfway through she said, "mama, paint with me, you can use the blue paintbrush". I sat down to paint some with her and she kept moving me to a new spot on the unicorn until she decided she didn't want help after all. She is so funny!

This little unicron kit is seriously the perfect gift for any little boy or girl. It's an inexpensive gift that not only can be played with for hours on end, but I also love that it doubles as an activity. I also want to mention that by buying toys and gifts like this for your loved ones, from shops like Elisa's (Grace + Eve), you are not only giving a gift to that child but also you are giving a gift of life and success to the shop owner (double win!). They depend on your business and we need small businesses for the success of our artistic and creative future.

While Rowan was busy painting we were listening to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack (the old one as she calls it). A few weeks ago we took her to the Beauty and the Beast musical in a small town in Wisconsin, that Jason's uncle directed. Ever since then, she has loved listening to the music from it. She was so adorable, just singing along to the songs as she contentedly painted her unicorn and peg doll. These are the memories and moments I live for.

Also, how cute is her little half pony. Oh my heart!
